HS code 41 raw hides and skins: raw, tanned or finished

Start with how far the skin has been processed. Headings 4101, 4102 and 4103 are raw.

Headings 4104, 4105 and 4106 hold tanned hides that are not finished. Wet-blue leather is still wet. Crust leather is dry. That difference helps you choose a code inside these headings.

Headings 4107, 4112 and 4113 are finished leather, which gets extra work after tanning. Parchment-dressed leather sits here too. Then check the animal. Heading 4107 is bovine and equine, 4112 is sheep and lamb, and 4113 covers goats, swine, reptiles and others.

Heading 4114 covers special finishes. Heading 4115 holds composition leather, plus leather waste, dust, powder and flour. Still unsure? Try the HS code classifier.

Hides by animal: bovine, sheep, goat, swine and reptile codes

Many buyers search by animal first. These are examples, not the full list, so open the heading pages for the rest.

Bovine and equine: 410120 is for whole, unsplit raw hides under set weight limits. 410150 is for whole raw hides over 16 kg. Sheep and lamb: 410210 is for raw skins with the wool still on.

Goat and kid skins: 410621 is the wet-blue stage. Swine: 410631 is the same idea for pigskin. Reptiles: 410640 covers tanned reptile skins, wet or dry.

Tanned hides and crust leather can look alike on paper. Check the stage and the animal first.

Why headings jump from 4107 to 4112, and what sits next door

The list on this page goes from 4107 straight to 4112. It shows no headings in between, so do not look for them here.

Chapter 41 is about hides, skins and leather itself. Chapter 42 is about articles of leather, such as saddlery, travel goods and handbags. Chapter 43 is about furskins and artificial fur, and things made from them. If your product is a finished bag or a fur coat, look in those chapters instead.
