Difference between 0302 and 0303, 0301, 0304 and 0305

The state of the goods picks the heading. Live fish go to 0301. Chilled or fresh whole fish go to 0302.

A fillet is a cut of the fish, so it belongs to 0304, and that stays true if the fillet is chilled. So with fresh fish fillets vs whole fresh fish, the whole fish is 0302 and the fillet is 0304.

Fish that is dried, salted, kept in brine or smoked goes to 0305. Flours, meals and pellets of fish fit for people to eat are in 0309. Check the state of your goods first, then choose the heading.

How to choose the right 0302 code

Start with the species. If your fish has its own line, such as 030232 for yellowfin tuna, use that code.

Use a catch-all code only when no named line fits. Each one covers leftovers of its own group only. For example, 030239 is for other tuna, not for any fish.
