What HS code 6304 covers

Heading 6304 is the home for made up furnishing items that have no more specific heading in Chapter 63. The official name is long, so most people say other furnishing articles. Made up means the item is already cut and finished, ready for use. These home textiles sit in Section XI, the textile part of the Harmonized System.

One rule matters most. Anything that belongs in heading 9404 is excluded, so it is classed somewhere else.

Two products are named outright: bedspreads and bed nets. Every other furnishing article is sorted by how it is made and what fibre it is made of. Traders in India often search for the HSN code 6304, and the wording is the same.

How to choose the right subheading for bedspreads and bed nets

The wording of the subheading decides the classification, not the name of the heading. Write down what the item is, how it is made and what fibre it uses before you look at the table. Then work through these questions in order and stop at the first one that fits.

Ask the knitting question early. It splits the heading before the fibre matters. If you are still unsure, the HS code classifier can help you check your product against the code descriptions.

  • A bedspread that is knitted or crocheted: 630411.
  • A bedspread that is not knitted or crocheted: 630419.
  • A bed net of the kind set out in Subheading Note 1 to Chapter 63: 630420.
  • Any other knitted or crocheted furnishing article: 630491. Fibre does not matter here.
  • Cotton, not knitted or crocheted: 630492.

Difference between HS 6302 and 6304, and other nearby headings

Several headings in Chapter 63 sound close to 6304. Check the named headings first. Use 6304 only when your item fits none of them.

So a bed sheet or a tablecloth goes to 6302, while a bedspread goes to 6304. Heading 6307 is a general bucket for made up textile articles that are not named anywhere else in the chapter.

The 9404 exclusion is a separate line. Items that fit that heading are outside 6304 no matter what they are made of.
